Denvers Quarterback Competition Heats Up

Bo Nix Impresses in Preseason Debut with Denver Broncos

Denver's Quarterback Competition Heats Up

With training camp just around the corner, the Denver Broncos are taking a closer look at their quarterback options, including rookie Bo Nix. Nix, a former Heisman Trophy contender at Auburn, has impressed in the early going, showcasing his arm strength, athleticism, and leadership. Here's a closer look at his performance and the competition he faces.

Nix's Strong Debut

In his preseason debut, Nix completed 7 of 12 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown, leading the Broncos to a 34-30 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. He also rushed for 26 yards, displaying his dual-threat ability. Nix's performance drew praise from coaches and teammates, with head coach Nathaniel Hackett calling him "a leader on the field."

Competition for the Starting Job

Nix is competing with veteran Russell Wilson and Brett Rypien for the starting quarterback job. Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler, is the clear favorite, but Nix and Rypien are pushing him for playing time. Rypien has been solid as a backup in Denver, and Nix has shown flashes of brilliance in his limited opportunities.
