Clarence Thomas: A Supreme Court Justice's Career

Early Life and Education

Clarence Thomas was born on June 23, 1948, in Pinpoint, Georgia. He graduated magna cum laude from Holy Cross College in 1971 and earned a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School in 1974.

Supreme Court Career

Thomas was appointed to the Supreme Court by President George H.W. Bush in 1991. He is the second African American to serve on the Court, after Thurgood Marshall.

Controversies

Thomas has been a controversial figure throughout his career. He was accused of sexual harassment by Anita Hill during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings. In recent years, he has been criticized for his wife's political activism and his own alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Legacy

Clarence Thomas is a conservative justice who has consistently voted against abortion rights, affirmative action, and environmental regulations. He is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.
