New Mexico State Wins First SEC Game
Aggies Make History in 63-10 Victory Over Auburn
Freeze Opines on Loss, Readiness
Auburn, Ala. - In a stunning upset, the New Mexico State Aggies defeated the Auburn Tigers 63-10 on Saturday, marking the first time the Aggies have ever defeated an SEC opponent. After the game, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze expressed concern about his team's readiness. "We didn't come out ready to play today," Freeze said. "We were outplayed in every facet of the game." The Aggies, who entered the game as a heavy underdog, dominated from the start. They scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and never looked back. Quarterback Diego Pavia threw for 350 yards and four touchdowns, while running back Ahmonte Watkins rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. The Tigers, on the other hand, had a miserable day. Quarterback Robby Ashford was held to just 100 yards passing and was intercepted twice. Running back Jarquez Hunter was limited to 50 yards on the ground. The loss drops Auburn to 5-7 on the season, while New Mexico State improves to 3-9. Freeze said he is still evaluating what went wrong and what needs to be done to fix it. "We have a lot of work to do," Freeze said. "We have to get better in all areas." The Tigers will have one final chance to improve their record when they travel to Mississippi State next Saturday.
